With a wink towards the historical Ackworth School in West Yorkshire, England, this sampler is a painstaking rendition of an antique sampler completed at the Quackworth School, an independent boarding school in the Columbia Basin for prestigious waterfowl (the Quackers).
62 x 192 stitch count.
These models were stitched on 40 count Lakeside Linens over 2 using 1 strand of floss. The monochromatic version uses Carrie’s Thread in Rusty Nail on Bisque fabric. Olde Willow Stitchery Hand-dyed threads were used on Green Slate fabric for the version on the right.
There is a companion sampler called Croakworth that celebrates the needlework schooling of the local frog boarding school.
