Typical of everything that is beautiful in the Lake District, this broad lake is ringed by mountain peaks and dotted with mysterious little tree-clad islands. It measures 3 miles long by 1 1/2 miles wide at its widest point, and is best appreciated from the lofty Friar's Crag.
